2016 Long John Jamboree Inspired Ice Competition Update
January 25, 2016 | YELLOWKNIFE, NT
The Long John Jamboree Society regretfully announces that its annual Inspired Ice NWT Ice Carving Championship will not take place this year due to the loss of headline sponsor, De Beers Canada. The announcement from De Beers was communicated to the Jamboree board of directors this past Friday. The board feels that with only two months left until the event, insufficient time remains to makeup the $30,000 shortfall without placing undue stress on other Jamboree events and volunteers.
Over the past four years Inspired Ice grew into a world class ice carving event, renowned within the International Ice Carving Community for the size and quality of its ice blocks. Past event winners include world champion ice carvers from the Unites States and Japan. The Jamboree board hopes to find a new headline sponsor to revive the fan-favourite event in 2017.
