Beard & Body Hair Growing Competition

Grow Period: January 15 – March 28, 2015

To enter the Growing Competition, drop by the Black Knight Pub between 6pm and 9pm on Thursday Jan. 15. Meet the LJJ crew and get your Official Contestant Photo taken. 

The competition will conclude at 4pm on Saturday March 28, 2015 at the Long John Jamboree. 
Points will be awarded for length, density, appearance, and overall bushiness.

Beard & Body Hair Styling Competition

For those competitors already sporting an exceptional crop of facial or body hair, it’s time to get creative. Copy some of the great styles of the past, or invent a new one. 

Pre-register by emailing nancy@longjohnjamboree.ca,or register on-site at the Snow Stage at the Long John Jamboree at 3:45pm on Saturday March 28, 2015

The competition will be judged & conclude at 4:00pm on SaturdayMarch 28, 2015. 
Use of hair styling products is permitted (hair gels, moustache waxes,hairspray, wire), as long as they provide structural integrity, and do notconstitute the majority of the construction. All decisions will be made by the Judges appointed by the Board of Directors, and will be final. 

Points will be awarded for originality, overall appearance, intricacy,and distance of hair extended away from face.

Friday, 3pm – Snow Stage

This is your chance to prove you’re a true Northerner. Get a group of 4 together to compete for great prizes. Fire starting, ice chopping and throwing tires – true northern feats.

Open to ages 18+. Preregister to reserve one of only 8 spots.

 

ICE CARVING WORKSHOP

March 9, 2015

LONG JOHN JAMBOREE ANNOUNCES ICE CARVING WORKSHOP

The Long John Jamboree and De Beers Inspired Ice, with the support of the NWT Arts Council, are pleased to invite interested northern artists to participate in an ice carvers skill-sharing workshop on March 23 and 24 in Yellowknife.

Certified Ice Carving experts Ken Diederich (Executive Director of the National Ice Carving Association), Chad Hartson (http://www.icecreations.net), and Ikuo Kanbayashi (President of the Canadian Ice Carvers Society) will be in town in advance of De Beers Inspired Ice: NWT Ice Carving Championships, to conduct the workshops.

Registration is free, but limited to 25 participants. The workshop will be held Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday. A detailed program will be published next week.

Preference will be offered to carvers who have registered in De Beers Inspired Ice: NWT Ice Carving Championships this year, or in previous years.

Artists’ tools are welcome but not required. Meals and refreshments are NOT included. Bring your own coffee!
